Where to Live

This is my first blog here and the topic is "Where we choose to live and why".

First of all consider how important the physical and social environments are in our personal lives.  They are as much a part of who we are as our individual body and mind.

For me finding where I want to live is closely related to finding myself, and who I am as a person.   I have lived and visited many interesting and beautiful places, and also some less desirable.  More often there are things I like about a place and things I don't.

Getting to the point

City versus the country?  It is a choice many people have to make, most seem to prefer living in the city.   I still consider myself a young person and I live in the country.  I like many things about being here, but I am longing more and more for a different life.   One thing I find lacking is a social and cultural environment.  Even with driving, something I don't like to do, one is pressed to find the same social atmosphere as actually living in the heart of the city, complete with street life, restaurants, bars, clubs and people you meet.

Driving itself has an isolating effect of people, being stuck in a metal box for up to an hour, while in traffic.  You find yourself in a sea of cars, not people.  It's like the cars are taking over the world and have a social life of their own at the expense of ours.

To be continued . . .
